Changes to the local Concessionary Bus Fares scheme come into effect on Friday 1st April 2011.

In difficult economic circumstances, the council has taken steps to protect the existing concessionary fare scheme and ensure that it will continue to offer considerable benefits to pass-holders.

Redibus services will continue unchanged. Concessionary pass holders who cannot use, or have great difficulty in using ordinary public transport, will still be able to use Readibus free of charge at any time. Pass holders will also continue to be able to use all other bus services free between 9.30am and 11pm Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays

However, from 1 April,on week-days before 9.30am and after 11.00pm, normal fares will apply, bringing the Reading scheme into line with existing national arrangements.

Reading Borough Council has worked with local bus operators to ensure that, even after these changes, a range of journey options are still available to save you money on any trips that you have to make outside the hours of the national concessionary travel scheme.
