GCSE and A Level students are celebrating an excellent set of exam results for 2011.
84% of all Year 11 students achieved five or more A* to C grade passes this year, compared to 80% in 2010. 2011 GCSE results also show three in five pupils in Reading achieved the higher qualification of five or more A* to C grade passes including English and mathematics. The 60% achievement rate in this area for 2011 eclipses last year’s figure of 57%.
These results are for both local authority controlled and Academy schools.
In terms of A Levels, pupils at the two local authority run schools in the borough achieved a 100% pass rate. The results are particularly impressive compared to national results of a 97.8 % pass rate. Blessed Hugh pupils achieved a 24% pass rate at A*-B whereas for Reading Girls this was 33%.
