Mapledurham Playing Fields Consultation
In 2003, the Mapledurham Management Committee recommended that the rebuilding of the Pavilion should go ahead, funded by the sale of a portion of land at the playing fields. This was endorsed by Reading Borough Council's Cabinet.
This recommendation followed two rounds of consultation with local residents and users of the Pavilion and playing fields; and the next step, as part of the lead into the planning process, was to be further consultation on the full implications of any development.
However, since the last consultation new funding options have arisen. There are new streams of funding available from the National Lottery and other agencies, which could help provide changing facilities and minimise the loss of open space on the site; there is also a new proposal to provide sports/recreational facilities in partnership with a new Caversham Primary School.
